In July 2025, Shatoot Consultants was commissioned by the Afghan Sustainable Economic Foundation (ASEF) to conduct a rapid assessment of three existing cold storage facilities in Laghman and Nangarhar Provinces.

Our team visited the sites to evaluate their physical condition, utility access, storage capacity, and potential role in supporting local farmers and traders. The assessment highlighted one of the cold storages as the most viable option for near-term utilization, given its strategic location, reliable access to water and electricity, and ample surrounding land for expansion.

This project underscores Shatoot’s expertise in agricultural infrastructure evaluation and its commitment to strengthening value chains. By identifying operational gaps and opportunities, we provide actionable insights that enable stakeholders to maximize the impact of existing facilities and support Afghanistan’s agricultural economy.
